You’ll get what you always got. Heard that one before? That’s one of the mantras I use when I need to pep-talk myself into making a positive change. When I chat with friends, clients or acquaintances about clean eating I hear a common and recurring theme and it goes a little something like this…
“I just don’t think I can _______________.” And that blank can be filled in with any number of personal vices.
…live without bread.
…stop eating candy.
…eat six times a day.
…eat brown rice.
I’ve heard a lot of excuses. And, if we’re being honest, that’s all they are…excuses. I know, because I was the Executive of Excuses for the longest time; the Diva of Do-Overs; The Master of I’ll-Start-Again-Monday. The thing of it is, if you make excuses instead of changes you’re not getting any closer to your goal. Also? It will probably deteriorate your health and wellness even more! Every day that you continue with the same destructive eating habits is one more day it will take to get healthy and free from the traps of unhealthy living.
So, my Motivation Monday message, for you, today is this – yes, you can. Put mind over matter and just get started. Start with your very next snack or meal, in fact! Cut the processed foods; stop drinking sodas and consuming toxic artificial sweeteners. Put away the refined carbs and get. to. work.
